Veterans Services

The County Veterans Affairs Office serves as the local point of contact for veterans, active-duty service members, National Guard and Reserve members, and their eligible dependents and survivors. The office provides free, confidential assistance in identifying benefits, determining eligibility, preparing claims and applications, and connecting residents with county, state, and federal programs. Accredited staff advocate for veterans and families while helping them navigate the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs.

Key Services

• Assistance with disability compensation, pension, health care, education, and survivor benefit claims.
• Guidance on Pennsylvania programs, including veterans emergency assistance, real estate tax exemptions, education gratuity, and pensions for eligible blind or paralyzed veterans.
• Support with military records, discharge documents, benefit eligibility reviews, and referrals to community resources.
• Assistance with burial benefits, grave markers and headstones, and county veterans’ grave registration records.
• Outreach and coordination with veterans service organizations and other agencies serving veterans and their families.
